I”m pre-approved, now what?

Getting a mortgage pre-approval is a great first step to buying a home. Knowing what to do next is super important to making sure your home buying process goes smoothly. The most critical thing is to communicate with your lender and real estate agent to ensure everyone is on the same page an managing expectations accordingly.

Here are a few things NOT to do during the process:

1. Change jobs without telling your lender, as this effects the income that you were qualified on.

2. Making purchases that could effect the amount of money you have for closing.

3. Establishing new credit in any capacity that would create a new bill. Communicate with your lender. The market changes day to day and so do interest rates as a result. I like to do estimates on home for payment and closing costs required prior to writing a contract on a home so the home buyer is comfortable with that information.

Communication is critical to the process so proper and accurate information is shared amongst the lender, real estate agent and buyer.
